Panda Security, a cloud-based security solutions provider, did two things this month that affect MSPs. First, it launched out of beta its Panda Cloud Antivirus product. Second, it rolled out Panda Cloud Protection–a 100 percent cloud-based managed security service for SMBs.
Both products work off of Panda Security‘s proprietary cloud-computing technology, Collective Intelligence.
Collective Intelligence leverages the knowledge gathered from the community of Panda users around the world to provide proactive malware protection with minimal impact on PC bandwidth. The Collective Intelligence servers detect, correlate, and respond to more than 50,000 new malware samples every day. Each new file received is classified automatically within six minutes.
Panda Cloud Antivirus
Panda Cloud Antivirus 1.0 is a free thin-client anti-virus product for consumers. It is a fully hosted, managed security service for SMBs, providing hands-off protection of endpoints and e-mail.
Panda Cloud Antivirus works with Windows XP (32 bits), Windows Vista (32 bits and 64 bits) and Windows 7 (32 bits and 64 bits). According to Panda, the Cloud Antivirus product only consumes 20 MB of RAM.
It is available in 11 languages and offered via download from its Web site.
Panda Cloud Protection
Panda Cloud Protection uses the same underlying cloud-scanning capabilities employed by Panda Cloud Antivirus.
“Relying on the cloud to provide fast detection of malware with the smallest possible footprint,” Panda Security states in a recent press release, “Panda Cloud Protection’s ease of use, white label packaging and subscription model make it a silver bullet for the channel.”
As a hosted service, Panda Cloud Protection optimizes resource consumption and eliminates the need for any investment in IT infrastructure. SMBs benefit from a fully-outsourced security service that provides remote monitoring and maintenance of malware protection services.
