Freeware Smart Defrag 2 hits the channel, featuring an improved interface and a “boot-time defrag” feature.
System utility and security software vendor IObit introduced this week a new version of its free disk defragmenting software, Smart Defrag.
Smart Defrag 2 is freeware designed for Windows 7, Vista, XP, and 2000. The latest version, Smart Defrag 2, sports a new user interface. It is also equipped with a “boot-time defrag” designed with an improved defrag engine. Exiting features have also been improved.
“Smart Defrag 2 is one of the only few disk defragment tools that has a ‘boot-time defrag’ or ‘startup defrag’ feature,” says IObit in a statement submitted to Channel Pro-SMB.
The new Smart Defrag 2 is designed to be able to defrag files during the system boot process that are not otherwise available for defragging, including pagefile, hibernation file, MFT, and system files.
IObit’s latest defrag engine works automatically, according to its maker, and it runs quietly in the background “so it continually and constantly keeps your computer fragment-free,” the company’s statement adds.
