BitTitan Ships Security Assessment and Cloud Cost Optimization Solution

Named Voleer, the system helps integrators generate project work and recurring revenue by identifying gaps in an end user’s security defenses as well as opportunities for them to streamline their spending on platforms like Office 365 and Azure.

BitTitan has unveiled a new solution designed to help IT service providers introduce security assessment and cloud cost optimization practices.

Named Voleer and available immediately, the solution debuted at Microsoft’s Inspire partner conference, which is taking place in Las Vegas this week. According to BitTitan CEO Geeman Yip, speaking at Inspire with ChannelPro, the new product directly responds to two widespread desires among traditional VARs and integrators.

“Number one, they want to grow their top-line revenue. Number two, they want to grow their monthly recurring revenue. And they don’t have a methodology of how to go and do that,” he says.

Voleer aims to fill that gap by collecting detailed information about an end user’s defensive posture and online spending patterns in turnkey fashion. Once a user provides basic customer information and administrative credentials, the system automatically produces a report outlining opportunities to improve security and save money.

Channel pros can either charge customers for those reports or give them away as a business development exercise. “In both cases it’s a sales tool, because I can sell professional services for remediation,” Yip says. Users can turn those initial projects into recurring revenue as well by performing regular checkups and reassessments to identify additional security needs and cloud efficiency opportunities.

Voleer is compatible with Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Azure, and Google G Suite, among other cloud platforms. Examples of the new product’s cost reduction recommendations might include advising a business with an Office 365 E5 subscription that isn’t using a lot of the features provided by that plan to switch to a less expensive alternative. It can also call an end user’s attention to unused Azure storage capacity.

Yip expects a large number of service providers to find Voleer’s combination of services attractive. “The great sweet spot is really just the existing system integrators that want to become managed service providers,” he says. “That’s going to be 80 to 90% of the IT community that’s out there.”†

BitTitan plans to begin automating the system’s proposed remediation measures later this year through integrations with third-party cloud and security solutions. For example, the system could automatically correct weaknesses in a customer’s firewall configuration settings.

“We’re definitely actively in discussions,” Yip says. “Before the end of the year, you’ll see a huge velocity of integration with other organizations to provide these turnkey solutions through automation.” Future updates will add the ability for users to implement security and cloud optimization best practices automatically as well, he adds.

Fees for Voleer are based on resource consumption. According to Yip, the system is priced aggressively. “We’re in the business of large-scale commoditization of automation,” he says.†

The system comes in a “forever free” version as well providing a limited monthly allotment of resources indefinitely. “You can do it for a couple of your customers every month,” Yip says. “If you see value you can go buy a subscription after that.”

Under a special promotion offer now in effect, interested channel pros can perform an unlimited number of assessments with Voleer for an unlimited amount of customers through the end of August.

Other vendors, including Kaseya’s RapidFire Tools unit and managed services vendor Continuum, offer security assessment software as well.†

BitTitan added support for Microsoft Teams to MigrationWiz, its cloud migration platform, last week.
