Symform Upgrades Its Cooperative Storage Cloud
Version 2.0 introduces laptop backup support, Flexible Contribution, and Instant Restore.
Distributed data management solutions provider Symform has announced the general availability of its latest Cooperative Storage Cloud version.
Symform Cooperative Storage Cloud version 2.0 introduces laptop backup support as well as two other key functions: Flexible Contribution and Instant Restore. Additionally, the user experience has been redesigned and the speed of data throughput has been increased substantially.
The Symform Cooperative Storage Cloud aims to provide SMBs with affordable access to backup and disaster recovery. The heart of Symform’s software is a proprietary technology called RAID-96.†
Symform president and co-founder Praerit Garg says version 2.0 incorporates key features and functions requested by resellers. “These are truly game changers for this market, and we’re thrilled at the early feedback,” he adds.
FLEXIBLE CONTRIBUTION
The Flexible Contribution feature enables the contribution of storage and bandwidth from another Symform node or nodes organized in a Symform resource group.
With Flexible Contribution, Partners are now able to set-up additional storage in their offices (or in a co-located facility). Additionally, resellers can “pool” resources and contribute from multiple nodes. A business with multiple offices, for example, can now contribute storage and bandwidth from more than one office on behalf of the entire group.
INSTANT RESTORE
The Instant Restore feature enables a Partner to sync a Symform node, storing their client’s data to the Symform Cooperative Storage Cloud and syncing it with another node. This way, a client’s data is always “hot” and ready to be restored should a disaster occur.
LAPTOP BACKUP SUPPORT
Symform’s software now runs on a laptop where it can continuously sync data from the laptop to the Symform Cooperative Storage Cloud. Since laptops aren’t frequently in the office or tethered to the Internet, the Flexible Contribution function makes it easy for a laptop node to contribute storage from another node or nodes in a Symform resource group.
