Now’s the time to order that case of aspirin and double the Tier 1 staff to handle the oncoming tsunami of Windows 11 questions from clients. This week’s stats ticker:

The Dell’Oro Group’s 1Q21 Data Center Capex Quarterly Report found that worldwide data center capex is recovering with 7% growth in 1Q21. This is the highest level of growth since the start of the pandemic a year ago. However, it will take until, 2H 2021 for cloud hyperscalers, still slowed by the current digestion cycle, to surpass 20% growth. Top server vendors by revenue include Dell, HPE, and Inspur, while white box vendors lost share during the cloud softness. The top 10 cloud service providers are projected to increase data center capex by 18% in 2021.

Ransomware: The True Cost to Business, from Cybereason, surveyed nearly 1,300 security pros and found that more than half of organizations have suffered ransomware attacks. 80% that chose to pay a ransom demand suffered a second ransomware attack, often by the same cybercriminals. Attacks caused a significant lost of revenue to 66%. 35% of companies that paid a ransom demand paid between $350,000 and $1.4 million. 7% ponied up more than $1.4 million. 53% reported brand and reputation damage, and 32% lost C-Level talent as a result of the attacks. Surprisingly, 26% of attacked organizations closed for at least some period of time.

Mona Lisa SupperBon appétit, Mr. Bezos. Heavy (and bald) is the head that wears the crown of World’s Richest Man. More than that, the glittery crown fascinates the crazies.

Need proof? Change.org has a petition, signed by hundreds so far, urging Jeff to buy the Mona Lisa, and then eat it. Yes, “”gobble da lisa,”” as one signer implores. There’s no mention if he must eat it dry, or if he can use a dipping sauce.

No wonder Bezos will take one of the first trips to outer space when they become available on his Blue Origin rockets. Unfortunately for him, the crazies will still be here to welcome him home. Maybe the trip will give him some new perspective.
