KnowBe4 Offers Employees a “Second Chance” to Make Smarter Security Decisions

Employees given a chance to turn back time on a careless click. IT Admins can use this new, unique email security tool to toughen their human firewall.

KnowBe4, provider of the world’s most popular security awareness training and simulated phishing platform, announced the release of a new tool to further promote smarter employee security decisions, Second Chance. The product is a lightweight client application for Windows that monitors when a user clicks on links within Outlook or email attachments like Office files and PDFs and gives the user a moment to review the link they have clicked before continuing to their destination, giving them a second chance.

“We are excited to make this Second Chance available to organizations and give IT admins deeper insight into which links users are clicking and which they are abandoning, along with how many times they click,” said Stu Sjouwerman, KnowBe4 CEO. “This will help determine where additional training may be required and help IT keep security top of mind with organization employees.”

Second Chance is designed to be as unobtrusive as possible to the end user, there are no additional system tray processes or interfaces. It’s simply a prompt that is raised only when needed to keep the user aware and thinking about what they just clicked on.

Second Chance also allows the admin to add additional “do not prompt” URLs in addition to those automatically not prompted like the organization’s internal domains.

KnowBe4 has given careful thought to which domains are included in the “do not prompt” list provided. Anything that has been weaponized, even if a healthy site, is not included.

IT Admins do all management of Second Chance via the KnowBe4 web console. From the console the admin can see the activity based upon both User and Device views. Additionally, the admin can set their own list of “no prompt” domains for sites that shouldn’t prompt the user.

Requirements: Windows 7 (32 bit or 64 bit) and higher, Outlook 2007 and higher.
