Super Micro Computer, Inc.†(NASDAQ:†SMCI), a global leader in enterprise computing, storage, networking solutions, and green computing technology, has announced that it is shipping a new all-flash NVMe (Non-Volatile Memory Express) storage server optimized to support Samsung’s new NF1 form factor SSDs.
Using only one rack unit, Supermicro’s new SSG-1029P-NMR36L storage server can house up to 576TB of all-flash storage via 36 front hot-swap NF1 form factor drive bays. The Samsung NF1 form factor (formerly known as NGSFF and sometimes as M.3) is specifically designed for high capacity network storage applications that require the best latency performance. The optimized power profile of the fully hot-swap capable NF1 devices means more processing power can be reserved to drive IO with the fastest CPU and memory available.
“At Supermicro, we consistently offer our customers early access to the very latest and best technologies,” said†Charles Liang, president and CEO of Supermicro. “Our 1U NF1 storage server features the most power efficient, next-generation flash technology with the highest storage density and best IOPS performance. This provides a real time-to-value competitive advantage for users with data-intensive workloads like Big Data, autonomous driving, AI, and HPC applications.”
“We are pleased to support Supermicro’s new solution with our new NF1 NVMe SSD solution for 288TB to 576TB per system, through which datacenter decision-makers can experience the most investment efficiency in their 1U systems,” said†Kyoung Hwan Han, Vice President of NAND Marketing at Samsung Electronics. “We will continue to create new application markets such as next-generation data centers and enterprise systems by delivering storage solutions with unparalleled performance and density benefits.”
Supermicro’s new all-flash 36-drive 1U system supports dual Intel Xeon Scalable processors up to 205 watts (up to 56 cores) and 24 DIMMs for up to 3TB of system memory. This helps enable the system to deliver ten million IOPS of performance and 20GB per second of end-to-end network throughput.† With support for two 16-lane PCI-E high-performance network cards, this system provides sufficient network I/O bandwidth to drive the storage performance in software-defined storage environments and applications like data ingest and playback for analytics and artificial intelligence (AI).
For accessibility, the solution supports remote system on/off and system management, as well as remote power cycling for each drive.
This innovative high-end all-flash 1U system is the latest addition to Supermicro’s extensive portfolio of industry-leading storage servers and JBOD product lines.† With 1U, 2U, 3U and 4U offerings that include all-flash NVMe, Simply Double, double-sided and top-loading options with SAS3 RAID or HBA controllers, Supermicro provides the industry’s broadest selection of storage products to meet today’s stringent customer requirements.
