Veeam has introduced a new unified data protection solution built around an updated release of its Veeam Backup & Replication (VBR) product.
Called the Veeam Data Platform, the new offering comes in Foundation, Advanced, and Premium editions. All three options feature the newly available VBR version 12. The Advanced edition also comes with Veeam ONE, the vendor’s proactive monitoring and analytics solution. The latest release of that product, Veeam says, includes support for a wider range of Veeam backup solutions, including Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, as well as new immutability and data protection status reporting for multi-cloud environments.
The Premium edition comes with VBR, Veeam ONE, and Veeam Recovery Orchestrator, a system designed to get businesses up and running faster following disasters by automating recovery planning, testing, and execution.
In addition, Premium buyers are also eligible for the new Veeam Ransomware Warranty, which provides up to $5 million of coverage for data recovery costs after successful attacks, as well as access to a “SWAT team” of ransomware recovery experts and a dedicated support account manager; a 30-minute support SLA; quarterly best practices health checks; and optional design and installation services through Veeam partners.
“Organizations are more vulnerable than ever. Over the past twelve months, 85% of organizations were attacked at least once; up from 76% in [the] last year,” said Veeam CTO and Senior Vice President of Product Strategy Danny Allan in a media statement. “We understand IT leaders feel they aren’t sufficiently protected and as IT environments continue to grow more complex and demanding, it’s now obvious that Modern Data Protection must be integrated into the overall cyber preparedness plan. The Veeam Data Platform brings the best of Veeam solutions together to deliver a single platform with relentless security, reliable data recovery and trusted data freedom, and is designed to give our customers the choice to leverage the right solution that fits their needs and keeps their business running.”
According to Veeam, VBR v12 offers over 500 new features and enhancements, including the ability to send backups directly to both on-premises object storage partners and cloud object storage; immutable backups for cloud-native Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure workloads; and the new Veeam Universal Storage API 2.0 and Smart Object Storage API. Pure Storage, Scality, and Object First are all using those interfaces now in products designed to serve as immutable primary object storage targets for Veeam backups.
Optional extensions for all three editions of the Veeam Data Platform, each of which runs standalone as well, include Veeam’s Kasten K10 container backup system, Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365, and Veeam Backup for Salesforce.
