The Advanced Infrastructure Solutions (AIS) Division of Tech Data Corporation has established a distribution agreement with SunGard Availability Services, a provider of information availability services.
The announcement comes from Tech Data, which says that the agreement enables VARs to incorporate SunGard’s managed backup and disaster recovery services into the data center solutions they deploy and manage for end users of all sizes.
“Tech Data is enhancing our VARChoice framework for managed services with best-in-class providers like SunGard,” says Amy Belcher, tech data director for advanced infrastructure solutions with Tech Data. “Our partnership with SunGard enables VARs to strengthen their data center practices by adding data backup and recovery services.”
Tech Data distributes SunGard’s Living Disaster Recovery Planning System (LDRPS) and Virtual Server Replication (VSR). SunGard’s LDRPS is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) offering that guides users through the development of a continuity program to recover critical business data in the event of hardware failure, natural disaster or other unplanned business disruption.
Tech Data customers also can offer SunGard’s VSR service, which is a managed recovery solution for both physical and virtual Windows environments. VSR combines virtualization technology and SunGard’s proprietary managed production services to deliver a cost effective solution ideal for primary applications with a less than six-hour recovery time.
“VSR is an availability solution targeted to the SMB market, helping companies to recover faster using a secondary data center,” says Karen Falcone, vice president of global channel development and distribution with SunGard Availability Services. “By partnering with Tech Data, SunGard is able to expand its VAR partner base and help deliver holistic information availability solutions to its customers nationwide at a lower cost.”
