Chicago-based International Components Corporation (ICC), which designs and manufactures portable rechargeable systems, launched a new series of high-efficiency AC-DC external power adapters for a range of electronic devices. Marketed under the Elpac Power Systems brand, the FWA065 is the latest addition to the company’s portfolio of Energy Star Level V compliant products–the highest available rating. The new 65-watt series delivers a converter efficiency of up to 91 percent, a power density of 4.9 watts per cubic inch, and up to 72 watts of output power, according to the company.
The FWA065 series offers OEMs high efficiency in active mode and a no-load power consumption of less than 0.5 watts to align with Energy Star standards and other worldwide energy-saving initiatives including CEC, EISA, and the European Code of Conduct.
The 65-watt external power supply can be used in a variety of commercial applications, including computer peripheral, communications, and networking equipment. The FWA065 features a universal AC input (85 – 264 VAC) and single outputs of 9, 12, 15, or 24 VDC. It is offered in a compact frame of 155.9 x 127.6 x 34.8mm (5.02 x 2.2 x 1.37 inches) that is convection-cooled and needs no internal fan. The unit also includes over-temperature, over-voltage, and over-current protection as standard features with maximum noise and ripple limited to less than 1 percent peak-to-peak.
The FWA065 series is compliant with UL 60950-1, CE, EN, and IEC standards and can be designed to meet non-standard output voltage and connectivity requirements. ICC can also design a custom solution to meet specific OEM requirements and private label markings.
The FWA065 is priced at $32.64 in OEM quantities of 1,000 and models are available to ship today. Five-year warranty policy and datasheets with complete technical specifications for the 65-watt series can be found at www.iccus.com.
