Industry Reviews of Oracle’s Database 11g Release 2 Trickle In
Beta-testing of the new product gives dozens of companies a first crack at working with its updated features.
Customers from a broad range of industries including Betfair, Grupo Elektra, MorphoTrak – SAFRAN Group, Postbank Systems AG, and XIUS-bcgi were amongst the dozens of organizations that evaluated and revealed their findings from beta-testing Oracle Database 11g Release 2.
Available and downloadable now, †Oracle Database 11g Release 2 introduces innovations in grid computing, storage management, scalability and performance and database administration, enabling users to efficiently manage their company information.
Alex De Vergori, database architect with Betfair, says Database 11g Release 2, along with Oracle Active Data Guard, was ideal for its “mission-critical customers who demand 24/7 availability.”
Jens-Christain Pokolm, an IT analyst at Postbank Systems AG, says the most interesting capabilities in Oracle Database 11g Release 2 include the use of automatic storage management for all files. He adds, “The Oracle Real Application Clusters enhancements will help us provide an even higher quality of service to our users.”
At XIUS-bcgi, a division of Megasoft, executive vice president of engineering and operations Keven Bresnahan says his company “can now guarantee and provide unmatched availability” to its customers using a combination of Oracle Database 11g Release 2 features, such as zero downtime patching for Oracle Real Application Clusters and automated fast failover of applications with Data Guard.
Ian Abramson, president of the Independent Oracle Users Group (IOUG) says, “Everyone associated with Oracle’s technology universe will be excited with the general availability of Oracle Database 11g Release 2.”
Abramson says the IOUG was an active participant in the Release 2 beta program. “We look forward to our early adopters sharing their experiences with other customers at Oracle OpenWorld and other User Group events.”
