IBM Intros New Business Analytics Solution
Cognos Express is designed specifically for midsize companies and is being delivered via IBM General Business.
Electronic health records, education, smart grids, and financial risk management are all helping to create quite a demand for advanced analytics these days. IBM announced a new portfolio of business intelligence and analytics this week with that growth in mind.
IBM Cognos Express is the first of its kind for Big Blue. It’s an all-in-one business intelligence and planning solution designed and priced specifically for midsized companies. The solution installs quickly and, according to IBM, “lets midmarket executives quickly and more cost-effectively capitalize on advanced analytics.”
IBM CFO Mark Loughridge says the company’s Q2 earnings “affirmed IBM’s commitment to analytics.” The company has made substantial investments over the years to build a significant portfolio of advanced analytics capabilities.
“Representing 75 percent of the global GDP, midsized organizations are the engines that will lead the global economy back to growth and prosperity,” IBM states in a recent press release. “Like their enterprise counterparts, these organizations need business analytics solutions that can help them better harness their information so they can continue to innovate and grow.”
†A recent IBM Global CIO study revealed that 83 percent of midmarket executives ranked “business intelligence and analytics” as their top priority for improving competitiveness.
IBM Cognos Express is part of a broader family of new midmarket services, software, and systems being delivered by IBM General Business, which collectively aim to provide midmarket organizations with tools that will gain “actionable insight, increased productivity, and improve collaboration.”
A free 30-day trial version of the software is available off the IBM Web site.
