Reseller’s Social Media Platform Targets IT-Conscious SMBs
PC Mall launches the Small Business Network in order to create “an environment that can help small businesses.”
Social media is running rampant across the Internet. Facebook, for example, is reporting an average 600,000 new members every day.
So, what if someone launched a social Web site just for SMBs interested in IT knowledge and resource sharing? Would that take off? PC Mall Sales Inc., a provider of IT solutions, believes it could.
PC Mall has launched a Web-based social network for SMBs, called the Small Business Network.
According to PC Mall, the Small Business Network was created to “provide small businesses the opportunity to learn from their peers, access strategic business and IT resources, and acquire discounts on technology products.”
The network is sponsored by such vendors as Hewlett-Packard and Cisco. Membership to the network is free to qualified participants.
PC Mall says its Small Business Network features the latest IT solutions and trends, along with product reviews, resources on sales and marketing, disaster recovery, and employee and employer best practices.
“The site also provides members access to discussion groups, webinars, a knowledge bank of white papers on technical and business topics, and advice from a panel of experts in various fields,” the company states.
By participating actively in the network, members can receive discounts on technology purchases or other benefits, like free shipping.
Pete Freix, PC Mall Sales president, says the Small Business Network is designed to be an interactive online community. “Small businesses today are facing more complex challenges than ever before,” he says, “and through the Small Business Network we believe we are creating an environment that can help small businesses overcome those challenges and thrive.”
