Fortinet Adds Entry-Level Appliance to its FortiGate Line

FortiGate-200B is designed for deployment in remote and branch office locations, providing 5 Gbps firewall and 2.5 Gbps IPSec VPN throughputs and 16-port port density.

Fortinet, a network security provider, has announced a new FortiGate multi-threat security appliance.

The entry-level edition FortiGate-200B joins the company’s three other FortiGate appliances: the 310B, 620B, and 1240B products.Fortinet FortiGate-200B

The FortiGate-200B is designed for deployment in remote and branch office locations. It provides 5 Gbps firewall and 2.5 Gbps IPSec VPN throughputs. It also delivers high port density, with 16 ports– all of which are accelerated with FortiASIC processors.

According to a Fortinet statement, the FortiGate-200B “ensures that broad security protection does not affect application and network availability.”

Anthony James, Fortinet’s vice president of products, says the FortiGate line is “intended to deliver the best possible security performance and functionality at every price point.” He adds that the 200B represents the entry level price point.

“In the highly competitive mid-enterprise segment, we believe we have delivered four very competitive, high-value products [in the FortiGate line] to meet the diverse and demanding requirements of our customer segment,” James says.

The FortiGate-200B appliance is expected to be generally available in December and will ship with the newest version of Fortinet’s operating system, FortiOS 4.0 MR1.
