Websense Inc. provides unified Web, data, and email security solutions. Now, the company announced last week, it has partnered with Juniper Networks to offer its Websense content security product with Juniper’s SRX Series Services Gateway.
The expanded partnership involves Websense Web Security Gateway and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) technologies, which is part of the recently released Websense TRITON system.†
According to Websense, the expanded partnership with Juniper Networks leverages Juniper’s security infrastructure to “enable joint customers to build secure Web 2.0 and content-rich networks without sacrificing performance or scale.”
The joint solution is aimed at simplifying network topology and consolidating security functionality to optimize network service and performance.
Juniper’s SRX Series is a security and networking platform capable of 120 Gbps of firewall performance, 30 Gbps of IPS performance, 10 M sessions, and the integrated AppSecure services suite. Combined with Websense Web Security Gateway (which features content analytics and integrated enterprise-class data loss prevention and centralized management) the SRX can deliver lower total cost of ownership by reducing the number of security nodes and related management.
In addition to real-time content scanning and classification, the Websense Web Security Gateway interoperates with Juniper’s SRX Series to leverage security intelligence gathered from the 50 million real-time data collecting systems of the Websense ThreatSeeker Network and Websense continuously updated database of millions of classified URLs across more than 90 categories, in more than 50 languages.
Websense says its Web Security Gateway continues to evolve as “the most knowledgeable resource on the ever shifting Web.”
Brian Lazear, senior director of product management at Juniper Networks, says, “Adding application awareness to the network is imperative.” He adds, “Partnering with Websense enables Juniper to provide customers with unmatched Web and data security capabilities that better secure their networks.”
For its own part, Websense says the partnership with Juniper provides customers with the ability to “Deploy our combined solutions with the highest networking performance and best security available.”
“To protect enterprise data from threats, while preserving network performance and minimizing total cost of ownership it is critical for network infrastructure, network security and content security to be tightly integrated,” says Websense vice president Devin Redmond.
