Software vendors looking to transition their products to the cloud as a SaaS can do so without a single code change by making GigaSpaces new eXtreme Application Platform (XAP) the underlying infrastructure.
GigaSpaces Pushes XAP as a Cost-Reducing Application Server

GigaSpaces XAP is an application server that enables VARs to deploy, manage, and scale Java and .Net applications. It is designed to utilize terabytes of memory, multi-core programming, high-speed networks, and virtualization across the entire middleware stack.†

XAP offers an array of middleware services, including a transactional in-memory data grid, a parallel processing engine, and a messaging infrastructure.

According to GigaSpaces, VARs that want clients to use their technology within the data center can “significantly reduce costs and speed transaction processing with XAP as well.”

“Vendors looking to SaaS-enable their applications also enjoy lower cost per user, enabled by XAP’s fine-grained multi-tenancy and resource utilization, full visibility, and control of the entire application stack, enterprise-grade resilience and security, and the freedom to deliver the same application as a downloadable package and as an online service, with no code changes,” says GigaSpaces in a statement to EH Publishing.

GigaSpaces executive vice president and general manager John Giubileo concurs. He adds, “XAP is the best choice for software vendors because it is easy to embed, reduces hardware, and operational costs, and it enables building applications once and running them anywhere … Using XAP frees developers to focus on the business logic and not worry about the underlying infrastructure.”
