Toshiba and Apparent Networks Announce Availability Deal

Apparent Networks’ PathView network performance management solution is now available to Toshiba Strata CIX IP business communication systems users.

Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division, and network performance solutions provider Apparent Networks announced this week that Apparent’s PathView network management product will now be made available to Toshiba Strata CIX IP business communication systems users.

According to statements from the two companies, PathView will enable Strata CIX users to monitor and manage deployments of unified communications solutions.

Apparent bills PathView as a “low-cost, easy-to-use network performance management tool.” Unlike many network management products, PathView monitors the performance of end-to-end network paths, including segments that pass through third-party networks, such as carrier WANs and service provider clouds.

Under the agreement, Authorized Toshiba Dealers will offer PathView in conjunction with Toshiba Unified Communication solutions that deliver voice, video and data services over distributed, multi-party infrastructures. Authorized Toshiba Dealers can now also install PathView at customer sites to assess their networks’ readiness for unified communication solutions as well as monitor and troubleshoot the performance and availability of the networks once deployed.

“Toshiba’s collaboration with Apparent Networks is a reflection of our focus on providing world-class communication solutions as well as innovative tools and services that deliver optimum performance,” states David Fridley, product development manager of Unified Communication Solutions for Toshiba America Information Systems Inc., Telecommunication Systems Division, in a press release to EH Publishing. “PathView, with its outstanding network performance management capabilities, is perfectly aligned with our commitment to support our customers’ transition into the IP world.”

For its part, Apparent Networks is optimistic about the sales potential of its new partnership.

“With [Toshiba America’s] IP-centric vision and the size, scope and strength of their team and their extensive U.S. distribution channel, we fully expect that a much broader group of customers will soon be benefiting from PathView’s unique functionality,” says Apparent Networks president and CEO Jim Melvin.

PathView is now available nationwide via Toshiba’s authorized dealer network.
