Mobile Edge Releases Corn-Based ‘Green’ Laptop Bags
The bags’ material is called Sorona, and it is derived from agricultural feedstock. The company says it cuts greenhouse emissions by 63 percent compared to traditional materials.
Mobile Edge laptop computer bags have established themselves as fashionable options. Now, however, the carrying case-maker is looking to incorporate a greener sensibility into its reputation.
Announced this week, Mobile Edge and DuPontT have created a laptop bag material derived from corn.
The new polymeric material, Sorona, is the main material for Mobile Edge’s ScanFastIT laptop cases.
The material is produced partially with agricultural feedstock (corn stocks). The two companies claim the material helps to reduce greenhouse gas emissions “by 63 percent when compared to typical petroleum-based Nylon or Polyester production.”
MobileEdge CEO G. David Cartwright says it is Mobile Edge’s goal to “establish a standard for producing truly eco-friendly laptop cases.”
“Our new ScanFast cases are not only the smart way to travel, but smart for the environment as well,” Cartwright adds.
Backed by a Lifetime Warranty,
The new ScanFast 2.0 Collection consists of a briefcase, traditional messenger bag, and a backpack–all are priced at $99.99 each.
