NComputing’s Virtualization Technology Spares SMBs from Having to Buy PCs

‘Office in a Box’ includes host servers, vSpace Virtualization software, OS licenses, NComputing virtual desktops, and basic peripherals.

Following up on its solution to help budget-strapped educational institutions with Classroom in a Box, desktop virtualization innovator NComputing rolled out “Office in a Box” this week.

Office in a Box provides pre-tested, easy-to-deploy desktop virtualization for SMBs. It was designed “in response to the growing need of small- and medium-sized business to have access to state-of-the-art office productivity solutions at a fraction of the cost,” states NComputing in a press release submitted to Channel Pro-SMB.

Because SMBs can’t always afford to purchase a PC for each and every employee (not to mention all the associated support and maintenance costs that go along with managing that many seats), NComputing’s Office in a Box is designed as a scalable alternative.

“The proliferation of PCs has become a financial and management constraint for SMBs,” explains Jim McHugh, senior vice president of marketing for NComputing. “Office in a Box utilizes our virtualization technology to address these challenges so that SMBs can deploy solutions that help them focus on business advancement not technology issues.”

Office in a Box enables a single server to simultaneously support up to 60 users — with each running their own independent set of applications. The solution includes host servers, vSpace Virtualization software, OS licenses, NComputing virtual desktops, and basic peripherals (such as monitors, keyboards, and mice).

Solution add-ons are available for larger deployments, such as virtual desktop failover, storage, and server virtualization infrastructure for scaling to support large populations.
