Panasonic Solutions Company demonstrated a new passive 3D projection system (PT-PJ3D53) in DirecTV’s booth last week at the National Restaurant Association Show 2011.†The company pitched the solution as being ideal for such public venues as sports bars and restaurants, educational institutions as well as many other corporate environments.
The 3D projection system consists of two PT-DW530U DLP projectors, a dual-projector stacking frame, a pair of circular polarizers, 100 pairs of circularly-polarized glasses, a 133-inch diagonal silver screen, and additional components needed to set the system up.
The Panasonic 3D projection system relies on the two PT-DW530U projectors to transmit video to the screen and deliver a unique perspective for a specific eye. Each projector lens is attached to its own polarized filter. The viewer needs to wear glasses, which do not contain any electronic parts and use passive polarized filters.
“3D applications, market demand, and broadcast programming are growing at a remarkable pace, and Panasonic’s PT-PJ3D53 is our response to this trend,” says Art Rankin, Panasonic’s director of Higher Education Sector and Projector Division head. “The offering appeals to every organization that is looking to enhance its operations and to remain competitive in this fast-paced market. Schools that create 3D learning environments will have higher appeal for incoming students, while hospitality institutions that offer their guests a new experience will draw bigger crowds.”
The PT-PJ3D53 3D projection system will be available this summer via authorized Panasonic resellers, and it will carry an estimated MSRP of $24,999.
