The Mondopad is combines touch collaboration applications with Vidtel’s cloud-based video conferencing for “a different kind of video conferencing product.”
Digital display company InFocus Corp. unveiled its 55-inch HD wall tablet this week. The product, dubbed Mondopad, combines touch collaboration applications with Vidtel’s cloud-based video conferencing.
InFocus has partnered with Vidtel in order to make business-grade video conferencing products that are “as easy as a telephone,” according to an InFocus statement submitted to Channel Pro-SMB.
InFocus aims for its Mondopad to be “a different kind of video conferencing product” in that it requires no upfront infrastructure investment or IT resources. It connects to all SIP and H.323 standards-based end-points (as well as many proprietary video conferencing platforms) from free consumer video conferencing applications, like Google Chat, and enterprise telepresence systems, like those from Polycom and Cisco.
The Mondopad’s 720p HD video camera and soundbar are designed specifically for video conferencing, with an eye toward eliminating conference room clutter and enhancing audio quality.
CONFERENCE ROOMS VS. “COLLABORATION ROOMS”
InFocus wants its Mondopad to fit a board room niche that enables professionals to interact with information, sharing documents and visuals in a meeting, whether local or remote. The Mondopad’s WiFi ensures meeting participants have the right access.
Mondopad’s multi-touch display works with Word, PowerPoint, Excel, PDF, JPGs and more. Presentation, whiteboard and annotation applications, including a complete set of writing and drawing tools, are also provided as a means of increasing engagement. InFocus wants this technology to move conference rooms to become “collaboration rooms.”
“From small businesses to the enterprise, InFocus now offers a business-grade HD video conferencing and all-in-one collaboration solution at an incredibly low price of entry,” says InFocus vice president of visual solutions Mark Perini. “Mondopad offers a future-proof collaboration solution with none of the expense, setup, maintenance, or updates traditionally required.”
Mondopad is scheduled for delivery in July 2011 for $5,949, with video conferencing services starting at less than $49 per connection per month. Resellers can place Mondopad orders through Ingram Micro Part Number INF5520.
