IT Distributor Releases 2010 Green Report

Ingram Micro says it’s “one of the only technology distributors to track and publicly report its sustainability commitment.”

Tech distributor Ingram Micro Inc. has released a social responsibility report for 2010. Calling the publication “an inaugural” report, Ingram Micro is suggesting the report will become a regular release.

Ingram Micro is claiming to become “one of the only technology distributors to track and publicly report its sustainability commitment.”

Using a narrative and quantitative format, the distributor’s report highlights its green achievements. Among those achievements are Ingram Micro’s having:

  • Become the first tech distributor to join EPA Climate Leaders.
  • Taken full inventory its carbon emissions for 2009 and 2010.
  • Renewed its partnership with EPEAT, the international standard for registered green electronics.
  • Received 14001 certification for its effective environment management system in operations in North America.
  • Improved its Newsweek Green Rating.
  • Maintained Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive compliance.
  • Received ISO 14001 certification in North America.

“Our commitment to social responsibility is woven throughout our organization and ingrained in our values,” announced Ingram Micro CEO Gregory Spierkel with the release of the report. “We have a legacy of innovation, and we’re proud that we’re one of the first of our peers to publicly measure and promote our responsibility efforts.”

Spierkel went on to say that he credits Ingram’s associates with having worked hard to recycle, volunteer, and “foster an energetic work environment long before it was popular.”
