The ‘Guide to the Cloud” is aimed at healthcare professionals on the market for a cloud services provider. It helps them select the best MSP for the job.
IT and communications services provider Cbeyond has released a Guide to the Cloud: HIPAA Considerations. It’s a guide for SMBs that outlines areas in which healthcare providers should go about evaluating cloud service providers.
The Guide to the Cloud: HIPAA Considerations whitepaper is available on Cbeyond’s website.
Cbeyond’s “Guide to the Cloud” is designed to help healthcare providers leverage cloud services while meeting privacy and security requirements under such legislation as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
“As the medical field prepares for a complete conversion to electronic health records by 2015, a switch to cloud services enables them to reduce IT and labor costs while receiving higher levels of security often unavailable to small or mid-sized providers,” states Cbeyond in a press release submitted to Channel Pro-SMB.
Cbeyond’s recommendations focus on five areas:
- Audits (SSAE 16)
- Safety and Security Measures
- Managed Data Security Services
- Security Policies
- Service Level Agreements
“Data security has never been more important for healthcare providers,” says Stacy Griggs, Cbeyond’s senior director of customer experience. “Cbeyond wants to arm them with the knowledge needed to make decisions about moving their IT infrastructure to the cloud.”
