Lenovo has launched the ThinkPad X130e, a new ruggedized laptop for education in K-12. Equipped with reinforced and extra durable rubber top cover, keyboard, and hinges, the ThinkPad X130e is designed to be handled by children.
The 11.6-inch lightweight ultraportable (weighing less than four pounds) has the processing performance students need for assignments requiring multitasking, with choices of the AMD Fusion E-300 and E-450 or the Intel second generation Core i3-2367M ULV processors. Users can also choose between AMD Radeon or Intel HD-powered graphics for multimedia-intensive lessons.
The battery is designed to last up to 8.5 hours — more than a whole school day. With a low-light webcam for connecting to other students, and Instant Resume to allow them to stay connected to Wi-Fi from class to class, students are able to thrive in a digital learning environment. HDMI and VGA out allows students to present their reports with a projector or big screen TV.
Other features include:
- Lenovo’s RapidBoot technology – the computer starts in fewer than 20 seconds
- Rescue and Recovery and Access Connections decrease calls to IT support
- Custom colors
- Asset tagging services to keep track of PCs
- Accidental Damage Protection services
- Hard Drive Retention services to protect digital information
The ThinkPad X130e laptop will be available starting Dec. 20 from partners and from www.lenovo.com. Pricing for models starts at $469.
