Atlantis Computing, a virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) provider, has launched the Atlantis ILIO for Hyper-V, which runs as a virtual appliance natively on the Microsoft Hyper-V hypervisor for deployment with Citrix XenDesktop.† According to the company, Atlantis ILIO is the first storage optimization product that can be deployed on any server with any storage and on any of the three major hypervisors – VMware vSphere, Citrix XenServer, and Microsoft Hyper-V.
Atlantis has also launched its ILIO Center, which provides monitoring, management, alerting, and reporting from within the VMware vCenter or a web console.
By cutting the amount of storage normally required and using lower cost storage options during a desktop virtualization project, the new software virtual appliance enables customers to reduce the cost of their VDI implementations. Atlantis ILIO also increases speed to ensure user acceptance and enables security measures to be deployed without impacting the number of users per server.
Atlantis ILIO Center enables administrators to monitor, manage, and report on the optimization metrics for hundreds of Atlantis ILIO controllers and tens of thousands of virtual desktops. Customers can scale their VDI deployments using the existing management systems, expediting the process. Optional VMware vCenter plugin and SNMP alerting capabilities allows ILIO Center to integrate into the same management consoles already used to manage or monitor data centers.
