Desktone and Ingram Micro Strike Distribution Agreement

The Desktop Platform virtual desktop solution will now be actively marketed, sold, and supported via the distributor’s Cloud Marketplace.

Desktop-as-a-Service (DaaS) provider Desktone Inc. has announced availability of its Desktone Platform via distributor Ingram Micro’s Cloud Marketplace (www.ingrammicrocloud.com). The announcement represents an expansion of Desktone’s channel program.

The Desktone Platform is a virtual desktop solution built specifically for delivering desktops as a cloud service. Using the Desktone Platform, service providers and telecom companies are able to deliver DaaS at a lower price point than many traditional virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) technologies. The platform provides multi-tenancy while complying with Microsoft licensing.

Under the terms of Desktone’s agreement with Ingram Micro, the distributor’s cloud sales team will actively market, sell, and support delivery of the Desktone Platform to its base of cloud-focused channel partners. The Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace is a transactional, online marketplace for solution providers to shop, procure, provision, and obtain invoices for their cloud services directly from Ingram Micro Inc.

“Interest and demand around full virtual desktop solutions is on the rise,” says Renee Bergeron, Ingram Micro’s vice president of managed services and cloud computing, “which is why we’re pleased to announce this new distribution relationship with Desktone. We are expanding our cloud services portfolio to further enable MSPs interested in hosting and delivering desktop virtualization solutions to their end customers.”

“Inclusion in the Ingram Micro Cloud Marketplace makes it easy to deliver robust DaaS solutions on top of existing cloud offerings,” says Desktone CEO Peter McKay, “while giving service providers the ability to deploy Windows desktops on any end user device without any of the hassles or costs typically associated with VDI.”

He adds, “This alliance validates our approach to selling DaaS through service providers who use our platform as a foundation for their own proprietary desktop management services to further grow their own revenue.” † †

Over the past six months, Desktone has expanded its list of service provider partners. Most recently, NaviSite a provider of cloud solutions, partnered with Desktone to offer cloud-hosted virtual desktops. Desktone also powers Dell Desktop Virtualization Solutions (DVS) Simplified DaaS. Other notable service providers delivering DaaS through Desktone include Fujitsu, Netelligent, and Quest.
