The smartphone has become an invaluable tool. It’s almost like a best friend. Well, hopefully you never lose your best friend. If that’s something you have nightmares about, you may want to pick up Kensington’s Proximity Tag.
The Proximity Tag is designed to keep tabs on your Samsung Galaxy smartphone via an app-enabled monitoring system. It can track that pricey portable and even offer up a little alarm when you get too far away from the phone (or it gets too far from you, like in someone else’s pocket). You decide how far away is too far by customizing the distance that triggers the alarm.
Considering how it can cost hundreds of dollars (and hours in headaches) to replace one of these smartphones, the Proximity Tag’s $39.99 MSRP seems pretty reasonable.
This little gadget is compatible with Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II smartphones, as well as the Galaxy Note 10.1 tablet. If you don’t have any of those devices, it also works to keep tabs on other things you may misplace or leave behind, such as your keys, briefcase, or camera.
Promising to last up to six months on a single CR2032 Lithium coin battery, the Proximity Tag features Bluetooth 4.0 and Bluetooth Smart technology. It’s available now.
