Need a simple, cost-effective all-in-one network video recorder made with small business in mind? Buffalo’s new TeraStation 5200 may just be the NVR you’re looking for.
The TeraStation 5200 NVR is a video surveillance network-attached storage (NAS) solution, offering redundant managed storage and recording for use in conjunction with up to 16 Axis Communications network cameras – the nifty One-Click connection kind. They’re even nice enough to throw in the AXIS Camera Companion software, too.
With support for that many cams, the TeraStation 5200 is a perfrect fit for a huge variety of SMBs like retail stores, restaurants, mini-marts, and more. Buffalo knows many of these businesses already have surveillance, but points out that a large number of them have put off moving to the digital age of customer-peeping due to the simpler setup and operation of these older systems. To address those concerns, Buffalo and Axis partnered to provide businesses and resellers with versatile, high-performance IP surveillance network that can be effortlessly set up and maintained over long periods of time, as well as deliver benefits of IP video such as HDTV-quality recording.
The One-Click Setup is the highlight here, which allows resellers and SMBs to easily scale surveillance up as the needs grow. The special AXIS software scans the network for cameras and allows the user to select which ones to manage. The software takes over from there, automatically setting up quotas, users and shares, and then auto-magically configures the cameras to talk to the NAS. Complexity is reduced, installers have less to do, and customers are happier.
The hardware itself sports their redundant dual drive NVR technology, eliminating downtime during HDD failures, and comes equipped with two specially designed hot-swap NAS Edition hard drives designed for 24x7x365 recording. The TeraStation 5200 comes in different flavors depending on storage needs. Pricing starts at $799 for 2TB, but 4TB and 8TB flavors are available as well for $999 and $1299 respectively.
