ChannelPro’s First IoT Playbook Online Forum Focuses on Opportunity

The virtual gathering brought together experts from the emerging market to help attendees develop best practices for starting and growing an IoT services business.

The first-ever IoT Playbook Online Forum, sponsored by ChannelPro and its IoT Playbook.com brand along with RIoT, an economic development organization focused on emerging markets, debuted this week. The virtual event brought together IoT consultants, decision makers, and solution providers looking to expand their understanding of IoT solutions and learn best practices for starting and growing an IoT services business. Attendees heard from experts on the products, trends, and vertical markets offering great opportunities for IoT today.

“IoT Playbook was launched as a resource for IT solution providers to learn how to add recurring revenue IoT solutions to their portfolio,” said Michael Siggins, president and publisher of the ChannelPro Network. “As the IoT industry has grown, so have the opportunities for our audience. This event was a chance for us to bring together practitioners and pundits to share their firsthand experiences with their peers. Against a backdrop of the global pandemic, many of our topics on cameras, AI, and thermal scanning were timely and practical.”

The event on July 7 included the following educational events:

Lights, Camera, Action: New Services Enabled by IoT Cameras—Host Tom Snyder (pictured above), executive director of RIoT, talked with panelists Terry Yates, Matthew Nederlanden, Hamza Ghadyali about how companies, organizations, and cities can enable new services thanks to cameras, leveraging the IoT revolution to monitor, automate, secure, and more. The group also discussed new managed services to generate recurring revenue for service providers.

Intelligent Video Analytics: What is Possible Today and Emerging for Tomorrow—Host Amber Cobb, director of partnership at RIoT, led a discussion on moving past the hype and looking pragmatically for use cases of how analytics, AI, and machine learning can be leveraged to move metrics and solve problems. Panelists were Kevin Taylor, Karen Lindquist, Ian Pitts.

The Elephant in the Server: Structuring and Managing Video Data—ChannelPro’s Mark Smith talked with guest Luis Alvarez about camera data and best practices for data structures and data management.

Connectivity and Security Policy Perspective—Cisco’s Lauren Sands walked attendees through security issues in an increasingly connected world.

How MSPs Can Utilize the IoT to Drive Exponential Growth—Host Mark Smith chatted with panelists Luis Alvarez, Taylor Clark, and Philip Wegner about the two main choices businesses have to generate revenue and drive growth: build your own products and customer experiences or choose an existing product to partner with. They discussed the potential for growth as well as the challenges for both routes.

“The Internet of Things market is already worth hundreds of billions globally, and continues to grow even in this difficult economy,” said Rich Freeman, executive editor. “We thank our friends at RIoT for helping us present such a great lineup of sessions filled with actionable, real-world advice on turning IoT innovation into a rich new revenue stream for our readers.”

ChannelPro would like to thank our keynote sponsor Dell Technologies/Dell Expert Network, as well as event sponsors Domotz and RIoT.
