HP Inc., of Palo Alto, Calif., has rolled out a wave of new printers and scanners for the individual, small office, and SMB markets including the first LaserJet printer with a sub-$100 price tag.
That device is part of the new HP LaserJet Pro M12 series of single-function printers, which is available online only for immediate ordering. Both that product family and the new HP LaserJet Pro MFP M26 series of multifunction printers, also available immediately though exclusively at Walmart, are the smallest and most affordable LaserJets HP has ever produced, the company says.†
The two product lines can produce up to 18 pages of text per minute for up to three users generating 100 to 1,000 pages per month, and are 15 to 20 percent faster than comparable older models, HP says.
Other additions to the LaserJet portfolio introduced this week include the HP LaserJet Pro M100 and HP LaserJet Pro M200 series printers. Targeted at small work teams of up to five people that generate 150 to 2,500 pages per month, they can print 23 pages per minute in the case of the M100 series up to 30 pages a minute for the M200 series.
The M100 printers are available now for $159 and up online, via major retailers, and through HP partners. M200 printers are slated to reach market through the same channels on December 1st at prices that will begin at $199.
“Customers love the crisp and clean text they get with HP LaserJet printers, but they want more options at budget-friendly prices,” said Santi Morera, HP’s vice president and general manager of imaging and printing, in a press statement. “With today’s announcement, HP is delivering some of its most affordable, efficient, mobile-enabled and smallest laser printers ever, perfect for use at home or in a small office.”
Affordability is a hallmark of the four new HP ScanJet business scanners also unveiled this week. They include an entry-level model called the HP ScanJet Pro 2000 s1 that sells for $329. The budget-priced device can scan up to 2,000 pages per day at a speed of 24 pages or 48 images per minute.
For businesses with more robust requirements, HP also introduced the HP ScanJet Pro 3000 s3, which processes up to 35 pages or 70 images per minute, the ScanJet Enterprise Flow 5000 s4, which scans 6,000 pages per day at 50 pages or 100 images a minute, and the HP ScanJet Enterprise Flow 7000 s3, which can scan 7,500 pages a day at up to 75 pages or 150 images per minute. All three devices utilize HP EveryPage technology to handle mixed stacks of paper with different sizes and weights, and are the first HP scanners to offer optional Wi-Fi connectivity.
“Business customers need affordable tools that are easy to use and help digitize data into searchable, sharable and ready to archive content,” said Tuan Tran, general manager and global head of HP office printing solutions, in a press release. “The new HP ScanJet scanners announced today are simple and intuitive for general office scanning, yet robust and customizable for unique workflow needs allowing customers to stay focused on their business.”
HP’s latest printer and scanning launch comes just weeks after the company announced a deal with Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.†to purchase its printer business for $1.05 billion, as well as plans to launch a new family of A3 multifunction printers developed in house.
