TP-Link Introduces Two Wi-Fi Routers With 802.11ax Support

The Archer AX6000 is built to deliver up to four times more data capacity in small office and home settings, while the Archer AX11000 is designed for gamers who demand top performance and robust functionality for games.

TP-Link has unveiled two new Wi-Fi routers: the†Archer AX6000†and Archer AX11000. Both support the new 802.11ax wireless standard, also known as Wi-Fi 6.

The 802.11ax standard features technologies such as OFDMA, AX MU-MIMO, 160MHz channel, and 1024 QAM to improve network capacity and efficiency and support more devices with faster speed.

The Archer AX6000 is TP-Link’s first 802.11ax Wi-Fi router. Designed to speed up connections and serve more devices simultaneously, it aims to optimize the modern home or office for streaming 4K/8K movies, online gaming, experiencing VR, and engaging with smart devices.

According to TP-Link, the Archer AX6000 boosts AX Wi-Fi speeds up to 1148 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and 4804Mbps on the 5 GHz band to provide up to 4x the capacity of previous AC Wi-Fi routers. A 1.8GHz quad-core processor with two Wi-Fi co-processors and 1GB of RAM are designed to ensure peak performance throughout an entire network.

TP-Link’s HomeCare technology, with built-in antivirus protection, seeks to keep every device on a network secure with help from a threat database updated live by Trend Micro. Parental controls enable users to limit time spent online and block inappropriate content according to unique profiles created for each family member or employee.

TP-Link’s new gaming series flagship, the Archer AX11000, is armed with AX Wi-Fi (Wi-Fi 6) and higher-end hardware. The AX11000 is built to be a “latency-ripper” that delivers great network performance for gaming, transmitting data at tri-band speeds up to 10756 Mbps. Its OFDMA technology and Gaming Accelerator, the manufacturer says, combine to eliminate slowdown and interference, making the device an ideal network hub for gaming needs.

Featuring an improved chassis, the Archer AX11000 boosts AX Wi-Fi speeds up to 1148 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and 4804Mbps on each of the two 5 GHz bands, offering up to 4x more capacity than previous AC Wi-Fi products. It comes with a 1.8GHz quad-core CPU with three Wi-Fi co-processors, 1 GB RAM, and 512 MB of flash memory. Gaming enthusiasts can further optimize their network for game play through the TP-Link Game Center to optimize bandwidth allocation, see real-time gaming data, and create a VPN tunnel for the best gaming performance. TP-Link Game Protector powered by Trend Micro has built-in antivirus protection to ensure the safety of all accounts, passwords, and documents.

Both routers feature a 2.5Gbps WAN port and eight gigabit LAN ports, to ensure fast internet access and wired connections. USB-C 3.0 and USB-A 3.0 ports transfer data at higher speeds. Eight external antennas deliver a Wi-Fi signal throughout the home or office, while Rangeboost and Beamforming technology concentrate the wireless signal directly to devices rather than distributing signals haphazardly.

Both routers also support other popular features such as Link Aggregation, Airtime fairness, Smart Connect (Band Steering), DFS, VPN server, and multi-operation mode.†They can be set up through Bluetooth with TP-Link’s Tether app, which comes with comprehensive features designed to make managing home or remote networks easy.

Both routers work with Amazon’s Alexa virtual assistant and IFTTT too, so users can add new devices to their network, prioritize devices and activities, turn guest Wi-Fi on or off, and more via voice commands.

“The Archer AX6000 and Archer AX11000 are two of our most exciting routers to date,” said Louis Liu, CEO at TP-Link USA, in a press statement. “These next-generation, state-of-the routers offer the fastest and most powerful WiFi experience available today, making them the ideal routers for customers that want more from their routers.”

The AX6000 is available for pre-order on Amazon for $349.99. The AX11000 will be available in late January 2019 for $449.99.
