Dell Technologies has unveiled new monitors with features that aim to lower eye strain and raise color precision.
Announced alongside a new meeting room solution for users of Microsoft Teams and a new plug-and-play soundbar, the displays include what Dell says is the first professional monitor with 2K mini-LED direct backlit dimming zones, which are designed to provide contrast with deep blacks and bright whites.
That product, aimed at creative professionals and called the Dell UltraSharp 32 HDR PremierColor Monitor, is also, according to Dell, the first 31.5-inch professional monitor with a built-in Calman Powered colorimeter. It ships on November 5th for $4,999.99 and up
“Technology that helps us do our best work is critical as we adapt to the new hybrid work environment,” said Bert Park, senior vice president and general manager of Dell’s Software & Peripherals Product Group, in a prepared statement. “Our monitors have always been the most desired companion to any PC, and our new line is no different. We’re helping customers push productivity to the edge while delivering great performance, style and comfort.”
Two additional monitors, Dell says, are targeted at desk workers who prize comfort and functionality. The Dell UltraSharp 24 USB-C Hub Monitor is the company’s first display with built-in ComfortView Plus, a low blue light solution designed to both maintain color accuracy and decrease eye strain. It is available now for $449.99 and up.
Buyers can pair that unit with the new Dell Slim Soundbar, which attaches magnetically to the bottom of the display, allowing users to tilt, swivel, and pivot the monitor without interference from the sound device. The world’s slimmest and lightest soundbar, according to Dell, the unit is available immediately for $54.99 and up.
The Dell UltraSharp 34 Curved USB-C Hub Monitor is a 34-inch product with three-side ultra-thin borders, WQHD resolution, 95% DCI-P3 color coverage, and dual built-in speakers. It reaches market on December 1st and will carry a $1,199.99 starting price.
Dell’s newest Meeting Space Solution for Microsoft Teams Rooms, which is due to arrive on October 15th, includes a Dell OptiPlex 7080 Micro PC preinstalled with Microsoft Teams Rooms software, plus Dell Large Format Monitors and a complete set of audio and video peripherals. “One-touch join” and proximity detection functionality integrated with the solution are designed to make connecting to meetings simpler.
Fueled by skyrocketing demand among work-from-home employees for better hardware, sales of PC monitors to U.S. consumers leapt 84% in the second quarter of 2020, according to NPD.
