Bitdefender has added new capabilities and subscription options to its managed detection and response (MDR) service.
That offering, which debuted last month, combines the vendor’s GravityZone Ultra endpoint and network security platform with network traffic analysis and threat hunting assistance from security experts. Incident response services included in the product allow MSPs to receive detailed instructions for remediating attacks or outsource remediation measures to Bitdefender.
New features added to the solution today include a dark web monitoring service that checks the cybercrime black market for stolen user credentials; a specialized monitoring service for c-level executives, board members, and other high-value, high-risk targets; and Bitdefender’s “human risk analytics” technology. Recently added to GravityZone, that last service monitors individual user behavior and factors potentially dangerous actions into an organization’s overall risk profile.
MDR subscribers can now choose among three packages introduced today. The first, called Bitdefender MDR Core, includes anti-virus, application and device control, web control, host-based firewall, and endpoint detection and response functionality. Pricing starts at $6.99 per endpoint per month.
The Bitdefender MDR Advanced package, which sells for $10.49 per endpoint per month and up, adds proactive threat hunting, user-based analytics, customer-specific threat modeling, and customized incident response playbooks to the Core license.
The Bitdefender MDR Enterprise package provides everything in the Core and Advanced bundles along with dark web monitoring, phishing domain registry monitoring, intellectual property monitoring, and high-value/high-risk target monitoring. Fees begin at $14.99 per endpoint per month.
MDR Advanced and Enterprise subscribers can also purchase IoT monitoring for an additional charge.
“We want security to be worry-free for our customers, and to be true business partners to them,” said Gavin Hill, vice president of product marketing at Bitdefender, in a media statement. “Bitdefender MDR gives organizations the peace of mind needed to focus on running their businesses. They know our team of verified experts is monitoring and automatically remediating advanced threats 24 hours a day, seven days a week, every day of the year.”
IDC labeled MDR offerings “the next generation of managed security services” in a recent study.
“Organizations are currently trying to balance the use and expense of a multitude of disparate security tools while facing SOC staff shortages, resulting in time-consuming investigations and a lack of the visibility and depth necessary to detect and remediate today’s advanced threats,” said Christina Richmond, program vice president for security services at IDC, in a supplied statement. “MDR solutions such as Bitdefender’s perform advanced attack detection and mitigation making expert-level security accessible to a wide range of struggling organizations.”
