SolarWinds MSP Integrates RMM Solutions with Microsoft Intune

When it rolls out later this year, the new collaboration with Microsoft will let users of SolarWinds N-central and SolarWinds RMM monitor the devices they administer in Intune through the same interface they use to manage other customer endpoints.

SolarWinds MSP has announced an agreement to link its two RMM solutions with Microsoft’s Intune endpoint management service.

The new integration, which is slated to begin rolling out later this year, will let users of both the on-premises SolarWinds N-central and cloud-based SolarWinds RMM monitor the Microsoft 365-equipped devices they administer in Intune through the same interface they use to manage other customer endpoints.

“Nearly 90% of the workstations our partners manage run Microsoft operating software, and Microsoft 365 is the productivity suite most of them use. The ability to monitor and service devices that are managed under Microsoft Intune from right within the N-central or RMM main dashboard will be a huge productivity boost, and enable our partners to offer more comprehensive service and protection for the myriad of devices they manage,” said Mav Turner, group vice president of products at SolarWinds MSP, in a press statement.

In addition to supplying centralized device monitoring capabilities, the Microsoft collaboration will let SolarWinds partners receive Intune notifications and alerts in their RMM dashboard and share those messages with their PSA solution, resulting in less manual entry of technical information and reduced technician “swivel chairing” among management tool interfaces.

Part of the Microsoft 365 product family, which combines communication and collaboration software with security and management tools, Intune is an endpoint administration platform with built-in mobile device and mobile application management functionality. The system supports devices running on Windows, MacOS, iOS, and Android.

“In these challenging times, small and medium-size businesses need, more than ever, to empower all their employees to work from anywhere and on any device in a secure way,” said Nathalie Irvine, Microsoft’s general manager for Microsoft 365, in prepared remarks. “Microsoft 365 integrates Office productivity apps and collaboration tools like Microsoft Teams with advanced security and device management capabilities. We collaborated with SolarWinds, a leader in the MSP software space, to make it simpler for managed services providers to secure data and devices using the security and management services in Microsoft 365.”

SolarWinds unveiled its latest RMM enhancement during Microsoft’s Inspire partner conference, which is taking place this week. With demand for cloud-based productivity software exploding among knowledge workers stranded at home by the coronavirus pandemic, numerous vendors have made Microsoft 365-related announcements during that show. BitTitan, for example, introduced an “IT Toolbox” solution for managing Microsoft 365 and other cloud solutions yesterday, while Lenovo introduced a new Microsoft 365 managed service
