Barracuda Networks has made its Barracuda Forensics and Incident Response solution available as a standalone product.
Introduced earlier this year, Forensics and Incident Response was previously available only as a component of Barracuda Total Email Protection. Selling it on its own, Barracuda says, gives channel pros and their customers greater flexibility by allowing them to layer the system on top of a wider range of email security solutions.
Designed to help businesses address email-based attacks that leverage stolen user credentials or social engineering tactics rather than embedded malware, attachments, and malicious links, Forensics and Incident Response includes tools for identifying, investigating, and remediating email-based attacks.
“Modern threats are finding new ways to bypass email gateways, so businesses need to take new approaches to prevention, detection and response,” said Hatem Naguib, chief operations officer at Barracuda, in a press statement. “Malicious emails may end up in a user’s mailbox, and when they do, they need to be addressed quickly. Many organizations lack the information and tools security admins need to address these incidents, which results in a manual, inaccurate, time-consuming process.”
Remediating attacks takes over six hours for 80 percent of organizations, according to 2019 data from the SANS Institute. According to Barracuda, Forensics and Incident Response users complete those tasks faster on average.
Key features in the product include the ability to flag suspicious messages for inspection; spot geographical patterns in where threats originate; identify all users who received specific malicious emails; send alerts to those users with advice on how to respond; and remove the infected messages directly from their inboxes automatically.
Announced a year ago, Total Email Protection bundles Barracuda Essentials, Barracuda Sentinel, Barracuda PhishLine, and the rest of Barracuda’s email protection portfolio in a single SKU.
