Build IT, IT By Design’s inaugural partner event, is taking place this week July 14 to 16 in Jersey City at the Hyatt Regency. The sold-out three-day event is geared at providing working knowledge to IT channel business leaders that they can apply to lead their companies, according to IT By Design, an MSP and provider of engineering talent to IT service providers.
The event kicked off on Sunday with attendees spending time in the solutions pavilion visiting with show sponsors representing some of the finest solutions and brands in the channel today. That was followed by dinner with a million (billion? gazillion?) dollar view across the Hudson to the ever-changing, always awesome NYC skyline.
This morning Kam Attwal-Kaila, president of IT By Design, welcomed attendees, telling them the event was developed to provide tools and actionable templates in workbooks for partners to use for their businesess. Participating educators are also providing templates for success. Attwal-Kaila stressed that Build IT is intended to be an education-first, peer community.
She went on to say that all MSPs are in a people business, and growth requires “people, process, and technology.” Therefore, MSPs must hire right and work on retention and cultivation.
Success in today’s economy also requires developing a process strategy, creating a technology toolset and solutions stack, and addressing the right challenges in the MSP organization. Finally, she added, MSPs need to be nimble and continuous learners.
After Attwal-Kaila’s address, the main agenda began, starting off with a presentation by Robin Robins, CEO of Technology Marketing Toolkit, on breaking new ground.
The Build IT agenda contains more than 30 workshops covering myriad business disciplines led by subject matter experts. Workshop topics include leadership, HR, culture, team development, sales and marketing, and others. Top thought leaders, including Paul Dippell, Gary Pica, Robin Robins, Brad Schow, Rob Rae, Rex Frank, Adam Slutskin, Paul Cissel, Shawn Walsh, and many more, are leading the breakout sessions. The event also features a solutions pavilion and opportunity to network with peers.
Tonight, attendees take a Hudson River Dinner Cruise on a†world-class yacht†with 360-degree unobstructed views of Manhattan, Statue of Liberty, and Brooklyn bridge
Tomorrow, Build IT features keynote speaker John C. Maxwell, a No. 1 New York Times bestselling author, coach, and speaker. His keynote will be followed by a full day of workshops and opportunity to browse the solutions pavilion. The event concludes with an IT By Design customer appreciation dinner.
IT By Design plans another Build IT event next May.
