Breach Secure Now! (BSN) has rolled its portfolio of cybersecurity services together into a bundled SMB Security-as-a-Service (SECaaS) offering.
The subscription-priced package, which builds on BSN’s Breach Prevention Platform, offers features not previously available from BSN as well, including cyber insurance and automated real-time phishing message analysis. It’s designed to provide channel pros all the elements of a cybersecurity service offering for one monthly price.
“We’ve been doing a lot of this already, but have kind of put it all together,” notes BSN CEO Art Gross.
The core of the new offering are BSN’s “human security” services, which include security awareness training, simulated phishing attacks, and dark web monitoring.
“Employees are the leading cause of data breaches,” Gross notes.
The anti-phishing service comes with a new plugin that performs immediate, automated analysis of suspicious messages not sent in conjunction with a training campaign. Rather than forward such messages to their MSP for manual inspection, users can click a “send for analysis” button instead and get real-time feedback. “We think that this is a game changer,” Gross says.
BSN added the ability to view stolen user names and passwords to its dark web monitoring service last August, and equipped its human security toolset with an “employee vulnerability assessment” feature that helps organizations identify who among their staff poses the greatest security risk three months before that.
Also included in the new BSN solution are a risk assessment service that tests customer environments against the federal government’s NIST framework and a regulatory compliance management service.
New features in the compliance service include support for NIST standards and a variety of state data privacy laws. Support for HIPAA arrives later this month as well. Based on functionality previously available only through BSN’s sister company HIPAA Secure Now!, that offering will be a first for the Breach Prevention Platform and part of a larger effort on BSN’s part to provide comprehensive security for SMBs of all kinds.
“We said, ‘you know, let’s take a step back and look at what’s needed,'” Gross says. “And what’s needed is SMB security, whether it’s healthcare or not healthcare.”
Also new to Breach Secure Now! in the SECaaS package is the ability to sell cyber insurance in $250,000, $500,000, and $1 million increments.
“It’s something that all organizations now need to have,” says Gross of insurance. BSN’s coverage comes with breach response services as well. “[It] will handle ransomware, it’ll handle business email compromise expenses, forensics, breach counseling, breach coaching, [and] public relations,” Gross says. Coverage for state and federal regulatory fines is included too.
Gross declined to identify the insurance carrier BSN uses for competitive reasons, but said it’s A+ rated. Partners need no insurance-related training or experience to offer the policies. “You’re not quoting insurance,” Gross notes. “These are pre-selected, pre-made packages that you’re allowed to add to a service.”
Insurance is available only for U.S.-based companies valued at no more than $50 million that have never suffered a breach in the past. Unlike many cyber policies, Gross notes, BSN’s insurance doesn’t required end users to utilize firewalls or laptop encryption. “That’s a good thing, because a lot of times that’s how you get exclusions on coverage,” Gross says.
BSN encourages channel pros to turn its SECaaS product into a complete security offering by adding their own managed services to it. Sold exclusively through the channel on a white-label basis, the solution will come in a version for healthcare clients that includes HIPAA compliance monitoring and a version for everyone else without that service.
BSN plans to continue providing HIPAA compliance services through HIPAA Secure Now! going forward. It also, however, will roll the Breach Secure Now! and HIPAA Secure Now! administration portals together so users can manage both solutions through a single console.
BSN announced new integrations linking its awareness training, dark web monitoring, and security risk assessment services to Datto’s Autotask PSA solution and ConnectWise Manage two weeks ago.
