CloudOak, a newcomer to the business continuity and disaster recovery market, has unveiled its forthcoming hybrid data protection solution for MSPs.
Called CUBE and due to reach market next month, the product is an all-in-one, subscription-priced backup, replication, archiving, and analytics package that combines a locally-installed appliance with storage in Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, or Oracle Cloud. The solution supports both virtualized and physical environments and integrates data and deduplicated storage into a single, scale-out fabric.
CloudOak, which has been in stealth mode since its creation last year, is headquartered in Oakville, Ont. “When we started we set a mandate for CloudOak to provide an easy to use, turn-key solution for MSPs to easily manage and monetize hybrid cloud storage and hybrid disaster recovery environments,” said CloudOak co-founder and CEO Jeff Collier in prepared remarks. “Our solution goal was to resolve business continuity concerns across on premise and public cloud environments for the SMB and SME. I am pleased to announce we have accomplished both.”
The new offering is designed to fill what CloudOak calls a hole in the market for simple, comprehensive, and cost-effective hybrid archive, backup-as-a-service (BaaS), and disaster recovery-as-a-service (DRaaS) solutions.
The CUBE appliance provides as little as 2 and as much as 20 TB of capacity. It comes with four 3.5″ hot swappable drive bays and two 2.5″ fixed bays; is powered by a single-socket, eight-core Intel Xeon processor; and supports 10 GbE networking.
“Having a BCDR appliance that provides DRaaS for hybrid cloud environments is a must for the SMB and SME today and we have provided a first for MSPs as one holistic solution, filling an industry gap created by current legacy products in the channel,” said CloudOak co-founder and CTO Petrus Human in a press statement.
In conjunction with the unveiling of its flagship solution, CloudOak also announced the appointment of Troy Cheeseman as its chief strategy officer. A veteran of BDR vendor Data Deposit Box, Cheeseman will oversee channel and business development for the company.
“I am very excited to get started with CloudOak as the new BCDR solution is a perfect fit for any Managed Service Provider servicing the SMB and SME,” said Cheeseman in a press statement. CloudOak will announce strategic MSP and technical alliance partnerships over the next several weeks, he added.
CloudOak products will be sold exclusively through channel partners.
