IT Glue, a maker of documentation and password management software for managed service providers, has introduced a simplified version of its flagship product designed for use by SMBs.
Called MyGlue and sold exclusively through partners, the new offering turns a maker of products for MSPs into a maker of solutions for end users as well. The system arms MSPs to help clients that lack written standard operating procedures and use slips of paper to track passwords record and secure that valuable information, according to Chris Day, Vancouver, B.C.-based IT Glue’s CEO.
“MSPs have been asking for a way to lock down their clients’ digital footprints, and MyGlue is the simple, highly anticipated solution for this long-standing pain point,” said Day in prepared remarks. “The coolest part about MyGlue is that it’s tightly integrated with two-way controls between the MSP and their customer, so it’s as controllable as it is flexible.”
The new system, which syncs with IT Glue’s documentation platform for MSPs, provides access to centrally-stored password data via a web app, mobile apps for iOS and Android devices, and a Chrome browser extension. MSPs can combine the product with anti-virus software, firewalls, and employee awareness training from other vendors to create end-to-end security service bundles at a time of proliferating threats, according to Luis Giraldo, IT Glue’s vice president of product, in a press statement.
“Small businesses are extremely vulnerable to cyberattacks with weak and poorly managed passwords being the biggest culprit,” he said. “MyGlue gives MSPs the ability to become a trusted security advisor to their clients with an easy-to-implement, easy-to-manage solution.”
Only channel pros with an active IT Glue account can become MyGlue resellers. For a limited time, partners interested in trying the new system can deploy up to five free seats.
IT Glue rival Passportal Inc., of Calgary, Alb., which added documentation functionality to its password management solution almost exactly a year ago, offers a product similar to MyGlue called Site that allows MSPs and end users to share approved passwords.
