VIPRE Security has introduced an online version of its flagship endpoint security solution equipped with behavior-based machine learning analytics functionality.
Called VIPRE Endpoint Security-Cloud Edition, the new offering draws on the processing power and scalable, big data storage capacity of the Amazon Web Services public cloud to layer real-time threat detection and response capabilities on top of the signature-based defenses already provided by the vendor’s on-premises endpoint security offering, according to Usman Choudhary, chief product officer at VIPRE, which is headquartered in Clearwater, Fla.
“It allows us to leverage the power of cloud-scale analytics to give unprecedented visibility into the security posture of our customers’ environments,” he says The new cloud edition also frees VIPRE customers from the hassles of maintaining server-based software and features a re-designed interface designed for maximum ease of use, Choudhary adds.
VIPRE’s first cloud-based solution arrives as businesses of all sizes are struggling to cope with a barrage of rampant and continually proliferating security assaults. Indeed, a recent research study the vendor conducted found that 23 percent of U.S. SMBs experience at least one cyberattack every day. Security solutions that rely on blacklist technology alone, Choudhary argues, are increasingly incapable of keeping pace with such a dynamic threat landscape.
“By switching to the cloud, customers are able to take advantage of the powerful, highly-tuned machine learning engine driven by behavior analysis as an additional protective layer,” he says.
The new solution’s re-architected UI includes interactive dashboards with timeline views designed to simplify threat analysis and remediation efforts. Other features include automated software updating, real-time system health displays, and server-to-cloud migration tools. According to VIPRE, the system can be purchased, configured, and deployed in three clicks and less than 10 minutes.
VIPRE Endpoint Security-Cloud Edition is a subscription-based product that sells for $30 per seat annually, with discounts available for volume purchases.
VIPRE plans to create cloud-based editions of other products going forward, and continues to expand its locally-installed security portfolio as well. In March, for example, it rolled out a new endpoint protection, anti-phishing, and email security suite named VIPRE Advanced Security for Business. Like the solution unveiled today, that earlier one features machine learning technology, threat intelligence functionality, and real-time behavior monitoring.
In April, meanwhile, VIPRE kicked off a channel recruitment push with the naming of a new channel chief and launching of a new MSP partner program. The vendor updated its partner portal in August.
VIPRE won a silver medal for best endpoint security vendor in ChannelPro‘s 2017 Readers’ Choice Awards.
