Barracuda Networks Inc. has added protection for data in Microsoft SharePoint Online to its Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup offering.
The new functionality allows users to backup and restore either entire SharePoint sites or individual files within those sites. Campbell, Calif.-based Barracuda positions that capability as both a safeguard against ransomware attacks and a tool for preserving SharePoint data beyond Microsoft’s 14-day retention window.
Introduced in June 2015, Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup is available both as a stand-alone product and as part of Barracuda Essentials for Office 365, the security, BDR, and archiving suite for Microsoft Office 365 that Barracuda introduced in January.
“One of the most commonly requested features we get from customers regarding Barracuda Essentials for Office 365 has been the ability to backup and restore files in Microsoft SharePoint Online,” said Rod Mathews, general manager and senior vice president for Barracuda’s data protection business, in a press statement. “With the new SharePoint Online backup capability in Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup and Barracuda Essentials for Office 365, we’re giving businesses added control and peace of mind knowing that regardless of the data-loss scenario, their files are saved and available only a few clicks away.”
The Complete Protection and Compliance edition of Barracuda Essentials for Office 365, which includes SharePoint Online backup, is available immediately. Businesses that buy it direct will pay $4.50 per user a month or less, depending on order volume. The updated stand-alone version of Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup with SharePoint Online protection is also available now for $2 per user monthly. Barracuda says MSPs should contact their account representative to learn about resale pricing.
The latest additions to Barracuda’s backup feature list come about a month after Barracuda Cloud-to-Cloud Backup received new incremental backup window functionality and the on-premises edition of Barracuda Backup received capacity increases and performance upgrades. Barracuda’s Intronis MSP Solutions unit shipped a new virtual edition of the onsite Barracuda Backup solution with monthly subscription pricing roughly two months ago.
