Oracle Corp., of Redwood Shores, Calif., has introduced a new managed service provider partner program for its Oracle Cloud solution.
The new offering will provide sales and go-to-market assistance to qualified resellers of Oracle’s infrastructure- and platform-as-a-service solutions, as well as access to Oracle Managed Service Provider branding. A new Oracle Cloud MSP Knowledge Zone, also unveiled today, will offer enablement and support resources to program members.
Entry criteria for the new program include completion of an Oracle Cloud MSP Partner Validation Checklist, which will be audited by a third party, and demonstrated competency in Oracle’s cloud products.
Oracle expects creating bundled solutions that wrap services—including cloud optimization, service migration, monitoring, and change management—around Oracle cloud solutions to be the key revenue opportunity for program members.
“Cloud represents a huge opportunity for our partner community and Oracle will continue to innovate new programs and offerings that help them grow and thrive in the Cloud,” said Sanjay Sinha, Oracle’s vice president of platform products, in a press statement. “The new MSP program is a win-win for our customers and partners, as it enables us to work in tandem to provide the solutions and services needed to accelerate time to value and success in the Cloud.”
Early participants in the new partner program include Accenture, Capgemini, Dimension Data, Fujitsu, and Hitachi Consulting, implying an orientation towards larger MSPs and solution providers. Amazon Web Services has a managed services partner program of its own with a similar tilt towards bigger partners.
As its recent and still pending acquisition of cloud-based ERP vendor NetSuite Inc., of San Mateo, Calif., makes clear, Oracle is in the midst of a strategic shift to cloud computing from its traditional client-server markets. The company’s latest quarterly earnings report, issued last week, revealed 77 percent growth in combined software-as-a-service and platform-as-a-service revenues, as well as flat on-premises software sales and sharply lower hardware sales.
Word of Oracle’s new managed services partner program arrives on day one of its annual OpenWorld user and partner event in San Francisco. The company also announced a new database-as-a-service and additions to its platform-as-a-service solution at that conference today.
