Barracuda Networks Inc. has released the Barracuda NextGen Firewall F-Series version 7.0, the company’s new cloud-ready firewall built to provide secure cloud adoption for customers operating dispersed network environments and leveraging public cloud and Infrastructure-as-a-Service platforms.
Designed for the cloud era, Barracuda NextGen Firewall can be natively deployed in public cloud platforms including Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services (AWS) to provide segmentation, security, and connectivity in cloud and hybrid environments. The new version, which is available in Azure Security Center, supports deploying unlimited firewalls in Microsoft Azure within a tenant and configuration cluster. It also offers administrators an overview of cloud deployments, including dedicated dashboard widgets that display data such as public IP, domain name, and DNS name received from the cloud datacenter where the NextGen Firewall is hosted, and the cloud instance type where the firewall is running.
Barracuda NextGen Firewall F-Series version 7.0 leverages the company’s global threat intelligence framework to prevent data exfiltration from botnets and spyware for on-premises or cloud-based networks. Additionally, it allows customers to scale across multiple locations with a “configure once, deploy many” management model and connects on-premises and cloud networks through multiple uplinks with dynamic failover, traffic balancing, and WAN optimization.
“Security at the network perimeter and at the endpoint was considered ‘good security’ years ago,” says Klaus Gheri, vice president of network security at Barracuda. “As threats became more targeted, traditional port blocking firewalls were no longer enough – and the next-generation firewall was born. Today, we’re at another crossroad, where the next-generation firewall must move beyond application and user aware security. Designed from the ground-up for dispersed networks, the Barracuda NextGen Firewall redefines the traditional next-generation firewall by enabling an intelligent network perimeter that offers fast, secure, reliable, and affordable access to business applications from anywhere and any device.”†
Barracuda NextGen Firewall F-Series version 7.0 is now available with prices starting at $699 for a branch-to-cloud appliance and $129 for Energize Update subscriptions. Public cloud instances are available for Microsoft Azure and Amazon Web Services, both as “Bring Your Own License” (BYOL) as well as hourly billing variants. Pricing starts at $2,999 for a BYOL 1-year subscription.
