Microsoft Corp. has unveiled the Surface Book, a 13.5-inch, ultrathin laptop boasting high performance with the versatility of a tablet. The company’s first laptop, the Surface Book includes a 6th Generation Intel Core i5 or Core i7 processor with 8 or 16 GB of RAM and an optional Maxwell architecture-powered NVIDIA GeForce GPU with GDDR memory tucked inside the detachable keyboard base.
The laptop’s PixelSense Display features a high-contrast 267 dpi with 3000 x 2000 resolution. The display detaches to become a tablet or can fold back and be used like a clipboard to sketch and take notes.

With prices starting at $1499, the Microsoft Surface Book is available for pre-order and ships Oct. 26. The NVIDIA GeForce GPU option starts at $1899.
