Teams at Microsoft are heading out into their communities and doing some feel-good work on the 29th, and they invite partners around the globe to join them.
On July 29th, the free upgrade to Windows 10 will start rolling out to customers around the world. Not only is Microsoft hoping you upgrade your system, but your entire world. Microsoft’s Terry Myerson took to the stage at the Worldwide Partner Conference this week to announce their do-good inititiative.
“We seek to empower people all over the world not to just upgrade Windows, but also to upgrade their world,” said Myerson. “We’ll get started on July 29th, when Windows 10 becomes broadly available. It’s just a few weeks away. On July 29th we’ll be engaging with organizations like the ones you see on the slide (see image) who are doing incredible work everyday to help upgrade the world. And also on that day, employees from Microsoft will strive to help the world by going out into the communities they live in. In Redmond, the Windows team will go out throughout Seattle to upgrade our community.
Myerson went on to invite their partners to think about what you would upgrade, and to join them on the 29th in this year long initiative to help improve communities around the world.
They’re also donating 10 million dollars to non-profit organizations. 9 of these have been chosen, but partners can submit votes for the tenth. More information about the Upgrade Your World initiative can be found at http://www.windows.com/upgradeyourworld.
Let’s also hope that a few folks from the Windows team are going the office to oversee the Windows 10 rollout… just in case.
