Kensington, a provider of physical security solutions, has launched a new Developers Kit for laptop and ultra-thin mobile device manufacturers looking to offer physical security features for devices of all sizes. Kensington is extending its OEM support with options for devices of multiple form factors including options for even the smallest mobile devices.
“The increasing enterprise demand for BYOD device security is creating a significant market opportunity for manufacturers that offer built-in physical security solutions to protect their customers from the increasing risk of loss or theft of intellectual property,” says Rob Humphrey, director of global business development, security products, Kensington. “With our comprehensive OEM Developers Kit and new Security Slot Specifications, we are making it easy for laptop and mobile device manufacturers to deliver the rock-solid security features customers want, regardless of the size of their device.”
The kit offers options for ultra-slim, slim, and moderate form factor devices, laptops, and peripherals. It also provides guidance on slot implementations including slot strength and device shell materials so that the slot will deliver exceptional protection in the areas of torque or pull, and provide a compatible fit with Kensington locking technology.
The Kensington Security Slot Development Kit is available now. The development kit consists of a security slot development guide, a slot sample, and a mobile and ultra-thin laptop lock. This comprehensive kit will allow OEM and ODM developers to test the locks in a slot and determine the exact fit and requirements to implement into their devices.
