Eaton Releases Latest Power Management Software

Eaton’s Intelligent Power Manager software version 1.4 integrates with the latest virtualization platforms and helps IT managers regulate power consumption.

Eaton has released its Intelligent Power Manager software version 1.4, which allows IT managers to set power consumption limits for each server for extended battery runtime during a power event. The new software also integrates with the VMware vSphere 5.5 virtualization platform.

“Combining compute, network, software, and storage elements, Eaton’s Intelligent Power Manager software allows users to manage their entire power infrastructure remotely and establish an advance power management strategy as the all-important fifth element of converged infrastructure,” says Hervé Tardy, vice president and general manager, Eaton’s Distributed Power Quality Division.

The Intelligent Power Managersoftware solution supports Eaton’s ePDU third-generation (G3) platform, its newest portfolio of rack power distribution units. With the software, network connected ePDU G3 models allow users to monitor multiple ePDUs through platforms like VMware vCenter Server.

This past year, Eaton and CA Technologies announced a collaborative agreement to deliver infrastructure management solutions for data centers. With the latest enhancement, Intelligent Power Manager software includes a menu option that enables users to launch CA Technologies’ NimsoftRemote Management Platform. While many users monitor the data center through Nimsoft, they often manage their networks within the VMware vCenter dashboard. With Intelligent Power Manager software’s integration as a tab within vCenter, the Nimsoft menu option is a way for Eaton to provide a view of IT operations.
