A few years ago, IP-based control was in its infancy stages, suffering through growing pains most notably marked by latency issues. Today IP control products are much more reliable, such as Flyover Innovations’ Blumoo product line.
Blumoo combines Bluetooth and infrared (IR) with its hardware and apps to provide homeowners with a universal remote and streaming media solution for music services such as Pandora, Google Play, Spotify, and iTunes.
The Blumoo apps are available on the Apple iOS and Google Android platforms. Once the apps are downloaded to clients’ smart devices, they will have control over cable boxes, A/V receivers, Blu-ray disc players, and other products.
Flyover Innovations says the app provides users an easy-to-use interface to access media directories, channel guides, as well as the ability to set up to push programming reminders, and it adds that as many as five mobile devices can be paired to a Blumoo unit.
“We set out to design a simple, affordable wireless music appcessory that’s easy for anyone to set up and use with their favorite mobile device and existing home audio system,” says Jason Carman, CEO of Flyover Innovations. “With Blumoo there’s no more tethering your mobile device to a docking station or having to keep track of various remotes.”
Blumoo expects its product line to ship in the first quarter of 2014 at a cost of $99.
