Technology has seeped into just about every area of the home-except the kitchen, really. Sure, you can have a flat screen and speakers. However, for some reason, companies can’t seem to cook up something truly high-tech for the kitchen.
Dacor is planning to change all of that. The appliance manufacturer just announced the Discovery iQ 30-inch Wall Oven. This is the very first wall oven to include the Discovery iQ Controller for Android.
Yes-Android. That doesn’t just mean that the company is opting for Android over iOS (for now), but it also means that you can control your oven with a smartphone or tablet. It does that via Wi-Fi technology and a variety of apps. Once connected, users can customize, create and communicate with the appliance.
That’s accomplished via a preloaded cooking application and guide, as well as applications available through the Google Play Store. For instance, users can select a recipe from the display menu (or download one online), insert the dish, and the oven takes care of the rest. No peeking or temperature tweaking is required. Then, once the dish is ready, the oven will send a text message and automatically switch to a warming mode.
Other features include a 7-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth support, a 4.8 cubic foot capacity, 10 cooking modes, system updates and self-diagnostics. Dacor also promises the company’s own Four-Part Pure Convection System, as well as access to gourmet recipes and video cooking demonstrations.
“The Discovery iQ Wall Oven and Controller is an innovative and intelligent breakthrough,” said Steve Joseph, president of Dacor. “Mobile technology continues to advance rapidly, and we are thrilled to bring this cutting-edge technology into the kitchen in a meaningful way.”
Available with two stainless steel door handle options, the Discovery iQ 30-inch Wall Oven with exclusive iQ Controller is selling now. The single wall oven starts at $4,299, with the double oven option coming in at $7,399.
