Having digital storage is insanely important in a work environment. However, it’s a lot like regular storage: You put something in there and completely forget about it. WD is making that storage a lot more accessible with its new Sentinel Series.
However, the WD Sentinel DS5100 and the WD Sentinel DS6100 (S-series) aren’t just interesting because they offer network storage and servers inside a compact package. It’s because they offer a lot of storage inside that small form factor.
Both of these four-bay appliances can deliver up to 16TB of raw storage, via WD 3.5-inch datacenter-class hard drives. That boasts reliability, as well as dual dedicated boot drives (which is optional on the DS5100), dual gigabit Ethernet ports, and dual external DC-in power adapter ports. Each product also has Intel Xeon processors and come pre-installed with Windows Server 2012 R2 Essentials.

Designed to provide automatic backup and restore software for up to 25 users and 50 computers, the WD Sentinel DS5100 is pre-populated in capacities of 4 or 8TB, with the WD Sentinel DS6100 available with capacities of 8, 12, or 16TB. The WD Sentinel S-series is available now, with prices starting at $2,560.
